A 33-year-old governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Monica Yahaya, has declared her intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
Speaking after obtaining her nomination form at the party secretariat in Gombe, Yahaya said her years of community development work and engagement with rural women inspired her political ambition.
According to her, women and young people deserve stronger representation in governance, adding that women have the capacity to deliver effective leadership if given the opportunity.
The aspirant also promised to focus on women empowerment, youth development, social welfare and improved access to water if elected.
She further expressed confidence that the PDP would resolve its internal challenges before the 2027 elections.
Yahaya said the support she has received from women and youths across the state shows that many people are eager for change in leadership.
