Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA have reportedly neutralised several terrorists during a precision airstrike in Zamfara State.
According to a statement released by the operation’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the strike was carried out on May 10, 2026, following intelligence reports of a high-level gathering of terrorist leaders in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area.
The military stated that the meeting location was concealed within a densely vegetated area and was allegedly being used to coordinate attacks and criminal activities in the North West region.
Acting on the intelligence, troops working alongside the Air Component launched a precision airstrike targeting the hideout.
The military said the structure used for the meeting was destroyed and that several terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while others reportedly fled the area.
Authorities also disclosed that follow-up surveillance detected movements of suspected associates attempting to evacuate casualties from the location.
Ground troops are said to be continuing clearance and exploitation operations in the area.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations against terrorism and banditry in the North West.
