The pastor of the Evangelical Church of West Africa in Omugo, Kwara State, Sunday Omole, has cried out after kidnappers allegedly refused to release his wife and other victims despite collecting N20 million ransom and several food supplies from families.
Speaking on Friday, the pastor said the abductors have continued demanding more money even after receiving rice, petrol, red oil, seasoning cubes and other items during negotiations.
According to him, the kidnappers are now demanding N300 million for the release of the remaining captives.
“It is almost one month now since we delivered the ransom, yet they refused to release them,” the pastor lamented.
Omole also accused security operatives of failing to properly raid the forests where the gunmen are believed to be hiding.
The pastor’s wife was among worshippers abducted during a church attack in Omugo community on March 22, 2026. Armed men reportedly stormed the church during service and kidnapped several worshippers, including elderly members.
Although some victims were rescued during security operations, others remain in captivity.
The pastor said the incident has forced him to abandon the community while church activities have also been suspended.
He called on the Federal Government to launch a major military operation across forest areas linking Kwara, Kogi and Niger states to flush out the kidnappers.
