Two serving members of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead, have been denied clearance to contest the All Progressives Congress primaries scheduled for Saturday.
The lawmakers, alongside Air Commodore John Opera (retd.) and Anderson Igbiki, were listed among aspirants disqualified by the party ahead of the primary election.
Reports indicate that the affected politicians are loyalists of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The development was contained in the final list of aspirants released by the APC leadership on Friday.
Meanwhile, 21 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, including Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat.
Amaewhule is seeking to replace House Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda.
Confirming the development, Rivers APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, urged all aspirants to comply with the party’s final list ahead of the exercise.
The latest development is expected to fuel fresh political tensions in Rivers State as the struggle for control ahead of the 2027 elections intensifies.
