The GOP are reaching a boiling point. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) issued a blunt warning to former President Donald Trump on Thursday, cautioning that continued attacks on fellow Republicans could cost the party dearly in the upcoming midterms.
“If we keep turning the knives inward, we’re going to bleed out before we even get to the ballot box,” Massie said in a statement that’s already sending shockwaves through Capitol Hill.
His message comes amid escalating internal rifts, with Trump recently targeting several GOP lawmakers who have hesitated to back his agenda or questioned his influence over the party. Some of those attacks have been personal, branding dissenters as “disloyal” or “RINOs” Republicans in Name Only.
Massie, known for his libertarian leanings and independent streak, warned that the party’s narrow focus on internal loyalty tests is turning off voters who want real solutions, not political drama. “We’re setting ourselves up to lose the House if this keeps up,” he said.
The stark rebuke highlights growing discomfort among conservatives who fear that Trump’s grip on the party could backfire, especially if it fractures an already fragile majority.
With the midterms just months away, Republicans are walking a political tightrope and voices like Massie’s are making it clear that unity, not division, may be their only path forward.
