Why the West Calls Iran a Terrorist Country

Why the West Calls Iran a Terrorist Country

Western countries, especially the United States, call Iran a terrorist country because of its support for armed groups that attack civilians and U.S. allies.

Iran gives money, weapons, and training to groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. These groups have launched attacks that killed people, destroyed buildings, and targeted U.S. and Israeli forces.

Because of this, the U.S. and others say Iran is helping terrorism. In 2019, the U.S. government officially called Iran’s military group, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a terrorist organization. This was the first time America gave that label to another country’s military.

The West also worries about Iran’s nuclear program. They fear Iran might try to build a nuclear weapon. Iran’s leaders have also made strong threats against Israel and the U.S.

But Iran says it is not doing anything wrong. It says the groups it supports are fighting for freedom, not terrorism. Iran believes the West is trying to control the Middle East and punish any country that resists.

This is why there is still so much tension between Iran and the West. Each side sees the other as the problem, and there is still no peace.
