A peaceful Sunday morning turned into a nightmare at a Birmingham church when 52-year-old Deanna Collins, the wife of Pastor Reginald Collins, was gunned down in the parking lot before service.
Witnesses say she had just finished praying in her car when shots rang out. Police say the suspect, a recently released felon with mental health issues, had been lurking around the church for days.
The community is heartbroken. “She fed the poor, taught Sunday school, and loved everyone. Why her?” said a grieving church member. Security camera footage is now circulating online, and faith leaders across Alabama are calling for urgent reforms in how high risk individuals are monitored after release.
