G7 Leaders Gather for 50th Anniversary Summit in Canada

The world’s top economies are meeting this week in Ottawa for the 50th G7 Summit, with a packed agenda: Ukraine, global trade wars, climate policy, and the rising power of BRICS nations.

President Biden, French President Macron, and new UK Prime Minister Lisa Nandy are expected to push for a joint strategy on China and stronger NATO funding.

But tensions remain. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has warned the U.S. not to go “rogue” on trade. Meanwhile, Italy’s far-right leader Giorgia Meloni is pushing back against climate reforms.

With war in Ukraine still raging and tariffs rising, this summit could reshape global alliances or fracture them further.
