Climate scientists are calling it an alarm bell for the planet. “This level of warming in the Arctic is not just abnormal it’s dangerous,” said Dr. Petra Holm of the World Meteorological Organization.
Residents in Reykjavík experienced their first ever “heat health alert” warning, with sales of fans and air conditioners spiking items once considered unnecessary luxuries in the region.
Environmentalists are calling on global leaders to address Arctic warming at the upcoming G7 summit.
