Suspected Instigator in Viral Cincinnati Brawl Appears in Court

Suspected Instigator in Viral Cincinnati Brawl Appears in Court

The man accused of sparking a brutal street brawl in Cincinnati has made his first court appearance after being extradited from Georgia.

Patrick Rosemond, 38, faced a judge in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on Friday over his alleged role in the July 26 attack that left six people injured. Prosecutors claim Rosemond, a convicted felon, “assaulted each and every single victim” during the melee.

According to court testimony, Rosemond allegedly punched a woman identified only as HR so hard that she was knocked unconscious, “almost causing her death.” Prosecutors said her head hit the pavement before her body even collapsed. Shocking footage of the attack, played in court, allegedly shows Rosemond taunting victims and even dancing after the assault.

Rosemond has been charged with three counts of felonious assault, three counts of assault, and two counts of aggravated rioting. He pleaded not guilty to all charges but was granted release on a $500,000 bond.

The state argued Rosemond’s violent history made him dangerous, highlighting 10 misdemeanor and three felony convictions. They also suggested his trip to Georgia, where he was arrested, may have been an attempt to flee though the defense disputed this, insisting he was only visiting a friend and cooperated fully with police.

Six others Dominique Kittle, DeKyra Vernon, Jermaine Matthews, Aisha Devaughn, Gregory Wright, and Montianez Merriweather have also been charged in connection with the brawl. Each faces counts of aggravated rioting and assault, with possible sentences of up to 30 years if convicted. All have pleaded not guilty.

The attack drew widespread outrage after graphic videos showed victims, including a woman identified as Holly, being beaten and left bloodied in the street. Holly later defended her actions that night, saying she stepped in to help another victim because it was “the right thing to do.”
