U.S. Secretly Used El Salvador Prisons But Responsibility Lies With Washington, Court Docs Reveal

U.S. Secretly Used El Salvador Prisons But Responsibility Lies With Washington, Court Docs Reveal

In a stunning revelation that could ignite international scrutiny, newly filed court documents allege that the United States government used prison infrastructure in El Salvador to detain individuals with full knowledge and cooperation from Salvadoran officials.

According to the documents, El Salvador reportedly told the United Nations that it had “facilitated the use of the Salvadoran prison infrastructure” for the U.S. government’s purposes. However, the country was quick to clarify that “the jurisdiction and legal responsibility for these persons lie exclusively with the” United States.

This development raises serious questions about secret detentions, legal jurisdiction, and potential human rights violations. While the exact purpose or identities of those detained have not yet been publicly disclosed, the implication that the U.S. used foreign facilities possibly outside the public eye and legal oversight could spark backlash both domestically and internationally.

Legal experts are calling for transparency, while human rights advocates are demanding answers about who was held, under what conditions, and why U.S. authorities sought to operate outside traditional legal frameworks.
