Trump Says Coca-Cola Will Start Using Real Sugar in U.S. Again - Is “Mexican Coke” About to Go Mainstream?

In a post that caught both soda lovers and political watchers by surprise, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he’s been in direct talks with Coca-Cola executives and claims the beverage giant has agreed to produce U.S. Coke using real cane sugar, just like its popular Mexican version.

For years, “Mexican Coke” has been a cult favorite in the U.S., praised for its smoother taste and traditional glass bottles. The key difference? It’s made with cane sugar instead of the high-fructose corn syrup typically used in American versions.

Trump’s post didn’t include exact timelines or corporate confirmation from Coca-Cola, but he framed the move as a win for American taste buds and manufacturing.

“Great news for the American people,” Trump wrote. “We’re bringing back real sugar. It’s time to stop loading our drinks with corn syrup. Make Coke taste great again!”

The announcement has already sparked a frenzy online with supporters hailing it as a “sweet victory” and critics questioning whether the president is overstepping into the private sector once again.

If true, this would mark a major shift for Coca-Cola, one of the most iconic American brands and a surprising political moment where soda meets populism.
