It started like a regular shift in Washington but by sunrise, one of the most protected agencies in America had a crisis on its hands.
A Secret Service agent was found dead late Tuesday night inside a downtown D.C. hotel room, sparking an urgent federal investigation. Even more alarming: his government-issued encrypted laptop and security badge are missing.
Authorities are tight-lipped, only confirming the agent’s death was under review. But a source close to the investigation told us the agent was part of a protective detail assigned to a high-ranking administration official.
