A controversial provision buried deep within the Republican Party’s new federal budget proposal is drawing national scrutiny for potentially giving President Donald Trump unprecedented executive power. Legal experts and constitutional scholars warn that the clause reportedly inserted last minute by conservative lawmakers could significantly limit the federal courts’ ability to enforce checks on presidential authority.

Dubbed by critics as the “Crown Trump Clause,” the provision would allow the president to bypass court injunctions tied to national security, border enforcement, and immigration policy. Essentially, it would enable Trump to act unilaterally in key policy areas, even if courts issue orders to block his actions.
“This is a power grab unlike anything we’ve seen in modern history,” said civil liberties attorney Marsha Reyes. “It’s an intentional assault on the balance of power.”
