It’s not every day you hear a global music star say he doesn’t want his children to follow in his footsteps but that’s exactly what Davido just revealed.
In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the Afrobeats superstar shared a surprisingly honest take on his children’s future, saying he would prefer they stay away from the entertainment industry altogether.
Instead, Davido said he would rather see his children work within his father’s business empire a path he believes offers more stability and peace of mind.
According to the singer, his perspective comes from personal experience. He recalled how difficult it was at the beginning of his music journey, especially without the full support of his father.
That period, he admitted, affected him deeply.
During the interview, when asked whether he would want his children to enter the entertainment industry, Davido responded candidly:

“Omo, go and work with my dad…”
He went on to explain that watching his father spend time with his grandchildren changed his outlook on life.
Despite his father’s wealth including luxury assets and private jets Davido said his real happiness comes from simple family moments.
That realization, he said, made him reflect on what truly matters.
Interestingly, Davido also made it clear that he wouldn’t force his children into any path. While he may prefer a different direction for them, he emphasized that he would support whatever decision they make especially if they choose entertainment.
“My daughter is already singing and dancing,” he added with a smile.
A Different Perspective From a Global Star
Davido’s statement has sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians sharing mixed reactions.
While some agree that the entertainment industry comes with pressure and uncertainty, others believe passion should always come first especially when it comes to career choices.
