There is tension in Abuja as prominent political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso, alongside other ADC stakeholders, reportedly led a protest at the INEC headquarters.
The protest is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) removed the names of the David Mark–led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from its official portal.
According to reports, the move by INEC is linked to a court ruling regarding an internal leadership dispute within the ADC. However, members of the party loyal to the Mark-led faction insist that the decision is wrong and have described the situation as misleading.

The development has further exposed divisions within the ADC, as different factions continue to lay claim to the party’s leadership structure. While one side supports INEC’s action, others are demanding a reversal, insisting that the recognized leadership should remain unchanged.
The protest reportedly drew attention as key opposition figures aligned themselves with the aggrieved faction, raising more questions about the ongoing crisis within the party.
As of now, INEC is yet to issue a fresh public statement addressing the protest.
